forest

water

trickles from ledge

to rocky ledge

slowly making its way

downwards

towards the glassy pool below

sunlight

tries desperately to break

through the canopy

its silver fingers

strain

to caress the forest floor

a small spotted deer

skittish

looks nervously from left

to right

then slowly

gracefully

dips its head down to drink

  1. Any poem with forest in it has got to be good.Yours is awesome, short and captures the spirit of a forest...

    I love forests.

  2. the imagery here is so nice! something about the flow of the poem suggests, to me, a deeper connection with the human condition. lovely.

  3. Sunlight caressing the forest floor, kinda like a lover. That was a nice touch. I could actually see that image very clearly.
