Christmas

Christmas
reflected in your eyes...
the greens
the blues
the reds
the huddled children
all snug in their beds
the "oh you shouldn't haves"
"i don't deserve this"
the sharing of love
with a hug and a kiss
the smiles
the laughter
the giving and the sharing
the ribbons
the wrappers
the loving and the caring...
Christmas
reflected in your eyes
is the nicest Christmas
of all

  8. Morning says it well, a wonderful "snapshot" in words of Christmas! It paints a wonderful, universal image in the reader's head with broad strokes that can be filled in with individual details by the brain. Well done! Here's my entry this week: http://caridwen.wordpress.com/2011/12/09/drafting-personal-census/ Happy Rally!

  9. well, working on the human emotions and conditions, you've touched upon it here with ''Christmas'' poem. Your piece renders the emotional feelings of the season, explicitly and pleasurably.

when reading this, I capture those old familiar feelings, endearing to me in years past (as a youth).

    thanks for evoking that feeling.

    very nice piece, here.

  11. I liked it when I read it in my head... but then I read it aloud after reading Flip's comment... and he's right! This poem is meant to be read aloud! The rhythm is so nice and the rhyme isn't blatant to me but stands out clearly when read aloud :) Totally awesome writing :)

  12. What I love most about your poem is the internal meter. Discreetly paced rhyme dictates the speed by which a reader reads the poem. A beautiful write. I appreciate seeing and reading your poem.

  20. Very sweet poem with lovely images. The colors and reflections evoke for me looking at all the beautiful shiny metallic decorations and seeing my face, others' faces, Christmas tree branches and sundry ornaments. Nice work!
